As someone else said, all genres, but contrary to some others’ opinion, they actually listen to a greater proportion of French music than many other European countries listen to in their own native languages nowadays (where English and American music has ve sometimes all but monopolized the local fare). The scene for both listening and creating is very diverse and active. All forms of jazz are still really big (recent conference explained that there’s been back and forth between France and States with jazz since the very beginnings). Not too big into the younger set’s tastes myself, but all the international styles seem to be represented, and French rap (+ slam) are still going strong. And they do, too, have country western – on Radio Musicbox, complete with some guy and his weird Southern or cowboy twang.
