Ansari has posted a rant against these chains and their deceptive “IMAX” branding on his own blog, and he’s calling for a boycott of all Regal and AMC cinemas, as well as all other IMAX locations. Movie theater companies, including AMC Entertainment, reportedly are steamed over Sony’s decision to release the animated feature “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” digitally on Dec. 8. That’s less than three months after its theatrical opening. Movie exhibition companies typically prefer at least four months before a movie is released for disc rental or purchase, according to the story trade press story.
