What motivated the development of the Certification Program?
The development of the Certification Program was inspired by a number of motivating factors, for example: • Internal and external influences contributing to the desire of the community to be recognized as professionals • The expanding body of knowledge and the realization of the increased strategic importance of procurement and materiel management practices to the bottom line of organizations • A requirement to enhance fairness and transparency in the procurement and materiel management processes as communicated in the Federal Accountability Act • A desire to provide accreditation and training for procurement officers as communicated in the Federal Accountability Act • A desire to address the widening gap between the work required and the skills and capacity available • The need to respond to government-wide priorities, e.g.
