What more can we do to persuade neighbouring countries to help?
We need to work with neighbouring countries to open up new land convoy routes to maximise delivery of vital relief supplies. Opening the borders for the delivery of assistance into Afghanistan would help stem the flow of Afghans attempting to flee the country. We also need to persuade Afghanistan s neighbours to adopt an open border policy and allow refugees safe passage across, in the knowledge that the international community will help provide for their care and help share the burden.
