What month is the water off Sooke/Victoria warmest?
As the previous answer states, August to early September is likely when you will find the warmest ocean temperatures on the Pacific side of Vancouver Island. Water temperatures on the surface (where you would be swimming) run in the mid to high teens (in the 60s F) so the water never gets that warm. There are, however, a number of protected beaches where water temperatures are higher which are better for swimming. If you are planning on doing some swimming and feel like seeing some of the Island I would suggest the east coast of Vancouver Island around the Rathtrevor Beach/Parksville/Qualicum area. I have included a link containing information on various beaches for you. Note: If you do travel up Island and go to Long Beach near Tofino be aware of the warning signs. It is known for rip tides and heavy waves at times as mentioned in the article. It is, however, a great place for wave watching especially in the colder months. Even Victoria can see roads closed due to high wave action at
