What modern day job would best suit Holden Caufields personality?
Well, see, the thing is is that lifeguard would well suit Holden’s view of himself in relationship to the world but the problem there is that Holden’s view of himself never really meshes with the world’s view of him. That’s a big part of what the book is about, after all. Consequently, if you’re looking for a job Holden would think was best for him you would look at things like lifeguard, but if you are looking for jobs that would suit the way Holden’s life actually goes you would have to look in a whole different direction. Say, retail clerk or telemarketer or maybe security guard. Do you see what I mean? P.S. I don’t see artist at all, any which way, personally.
