What missile defense assets are in Alaska?
Currently, anti-ballistic missile interceptors are in place at the Missile Defense Complex located at Ft. Greely. Also, preparations have been made to homeport the Sea-Based, X-Band Radar at Adak, Alaska (out in the Aleutian Chain). While not MDA-owned or controlled assets, the MDA launches target missiles from the State-Owned Kodiak Launch Complex on Kodiak Island; and the MDA upgraded the Cobra Dane radar on Shemya Island in the Aleutians for missile defense use.
