What missile defense assets are in Alaska?
Currently, anti-ballistic missile interceptors are in place at the Missile Defense Complex located at Ft. Greely. Also, preparations have been made to homeport the Sea-Based, X-Band Radar at Adak, Alaska (out in the Aleutian Chain). While not MDA-owned or controlled assets, the MDA launches target missiles from the State-Owned Kodiak Launch Complex on Kodiak Island; and the MDA upgraded the Cobra Dane radar on Shemya Island in the Aleutians for missile defense use.

Plans are being developed to upgrade the early warning radar at Clear AFS and integrate the radar into the US Ballistic Missile Defense System.
