What might have happened if she hadn married John Rolfe?
Pocahontas was the daughter of Chief Powhattan. She helped the settlers and saved the life of Captain John Smith one time when her father wanted to kill him. Pocahontas fell in love with an English settler, John Rolfe. They were married and went to England where Pocahontas was presented to the King and Queen. Pocahontas died on the journey home. Students may create a story that does not include the visit to England. Perhaps she stays in America and helps the colonists survive by learning the ways of the Native Americans. Stories will vary, but must reflect the basic knowledge of who she was.
