The Stylus 700 supports two metering modes: Digital ESP multi-pattern metering (default) and Spot. • DIGITAL ESP: The camera meters the brightness at the center of the frame and that of the surrounding area separately to create a picture with balanced brightness. • SPOT: The camera meters a small area around the center of the LCD monitor. This is the best mode to use when the subject is backlit or positioned against a very dark or very bright background.
