Iron (steel) is the metal that rusts the most and forms the red crusty type of rust. That type of rust is called iron oxide. Other metals rust, such as copper, brass, bronze and more, but they do not rust as much and the rust does not hurt the metal as much. It is called patina (not rust) on any metal that is not iron.
