What message does CDC have for pregnant women or women of childbearing age?
As a federal agency under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CDC abides by and supports the U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory on Alcohol and Pregnancy that advises against drinking alcoholic beverages during pregnancy or when planning a pregnancy. This warning was first issued in 1981 and was later reissued in 1990 and 1995 by the U.S. Secretary of Health.
