What mental illness afflicted Edgar Allan Poe?
Edgar Allen Poe as of sept. 2004 has been said to suffer from Manic-Depressive Bipolar disorder. This would explain the fact that as time grow his writings became more disterbuted, because the affiction worsens with time. Poes drinking and smoking problem were more that likly away of self-medication. However because we only have to go on biograghys and auto-biograghys we can not be exactly sure if this is the case. But using his own writings this is the conclusion.
