What medications are commonly used to treat ADD/ADHD?
A. Only a medical doctor can prescribe medications. The psychologist who performs the evaluation will suggest a doctor who is familiar with these disorders. Usually, the medications are stimulant medications that have the effect of helping the person with ADD/ADHD to be calm and focused. Some of the common ones are Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, Concerta, Strattera, Provigil, and Vyvance.
