What measures does VSP take to ensure quality care for its members?
VSP goes to great lengths to ensure that our plans meet strict quality guidelines. We were the first vision carrier to receive accreditation from the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) – standards recognized nationally as benchmarks for quality in managed care. Also, VSP doctors are required to meet quality assurance standards set by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the highest possible training standards in the eyecare industry – Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certification for VSP optometrists and American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) certification for VSP ophthalmologists. VSP’s quality assurance standards ensure that our members have access to a large network of high quality, conveniently located doctors whose focus is on patient care, not retail sales.
