What measures does the Heath Department undertake to control mosquito breeding?
The health department maintains a list of mosquito breeding areas in the city. Weekly spraying operations are carried out using Abate, Baytex and other chemcicals which have immensely helped in the control of mosquito breeding. Fogging operations are carried out when there is spread of epidemics such as Dengue or Japanese Encephalitis. All the wells, tanks and lakes are stocked with Gambusia fishes, which are larvivorous in nature.
