What measures does Canisius take to make sure that students are safe?
The Canisius Public Safety Department protects the educational environment of the college. They do this by providing 24-hour surveillance of the campus and surrounding area, offering a shuttle service to all students, utilizing blue light emergency phone systems and closed circuit TV all over the campus, limiting building access through a swipe card system, providing motorist assistance, and educating students about crime prevention. Additionally, Canisius has implemented Canisius Alert, which is a notification system that will enable college officials to quickly notify students of an emergency, college closing or class cancellations. Students can be notified via email and/or phone (perferably cell phone). Access to all residence halls is limited to residents of those buildings through a state of the art swipe card access system.
