What measures are in place on Gumtree to help protect users from illegal scams?
Gumtree works extremely hard at protecting our users. We are constantly changing and updating our tools to make life difficult for anyone attempting to scam someone through Gumtree. For example: 1. We have warning messages in many places across the site, with examples of common scams, etc. 2. We encourage and rely on the community to “report an ad” to us for review if it seems fraudulent, illegal, against Gumtree policy or inappropriate. 3. We give you the ability to anonymise and hide your email address in your ad, which cuts down on the potential for spammers to send you unwanted e-mails. 4. We enable the community to post information about scams on our Forums with examples of recent frauds. This is where people can educate themselves on the potential scams that are out there, and offer advice or feedback to help other users. 5.
