when you configure 800xA for DA, there is an option to use OLE for Process Control(OPC). What it means is, your source of data for access/acquisition will be lying outside of the system and OPC is the mechanism by which you access it. For example when DA is required from external files , e.g Excel spreadsheets, MS-access database etc. Technology is from Microsoft based on open standards.
