What, mathematical, or scientific proof is there in the existence of God?”
I don’t know of any successful mathematical or scientific proofs but there have been attempts both in the past and more recently to provide such proof. The debate over intelligent design offers some insight into the relevant issues of trying to offer scientific proof. The intelligent design argument is an updated version of William Paley’s Teleological argument offered in the early 19th century. Paley argues that each individual instance of creation provides evidence for the existence of God and taken collectively provides overwhelming evidence. The philosopher David Hume provides some general criticisms of the attempt to offer such proof in a work titled Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion. A more recent scientific investigation of these proofs is offered by Richard Dawkins in his book titled The God Delusion. Mathematical proofs are harder to find perhaps because the ground was conceded long ago by the mathematician Blaise Pascal who opted for a more faith based position as opposed
