What materials are used to build a ship?

0

Archimedes Principle of Buoyancy states that a ship will displace it’s weight in water to stay afloat. This means that a ship weighing 10 tons will displace 10 tons of water. Once this is done the ship floats. The materials used to build a ship is different depending on the use of the craft. It can be wood, steel, aluminium, fiberglass. When it comes to steel ships, there are different grades of steel that can be used. If the ship is to be used in fresh water applications only, a cheaper grade of steel can be used since rust will not be an issue. When it is used in Salt water applications the steel will have to be of a better quality. Hope this helps.
