What materials are accepted for recycling?
Glass, plastic and cans may be placed in the same blue bag but newspapers must be placed in a separate blue bag. All glass beverage bottles and jars may be recycled but please rinse the containers and remove the lids and neck rings. The paper labels do not need to be removed from glass bottles or jars. Plastic milk containers and plastic bottles and containers that have the numbers 1 or 2 stamped on the bottom may be recycled and should also be rinsed out. Aluminum and steel cans should be rinsed out and should have any paper labels removed. Newspapers only should be placed in a separate blue bag and should not contain any magazines or glossy inserts. Please tie the blue bags securely to prevent them from opening.
Accepted items for recycling include: All clean paper, corrugated cardboard, brown bags and paper, paperboard, paper egg cartons, telephone books and magazines, clear and colored glass containers, aluminum foil and beverage containers, scrap steel and aluminum metals (not exceeding 40 pounds in weight nor 2 feet in any dimension for any single item); steel including, tin cans, aerosol cans (empty, non-toxic products), bimetal containers, all plastics (#1-7).
