I would just use standard weight ribbon or perhaps velvet. Velvet is harder to tie into a nice bow, but it is rather striking & elegant. With gold, I would choose dark brown instead of black. With any choice, make sure they don’t end up looking like little girls’ dresses. I got a shift style summer cotton/linen purple jumper last year that has self-ties attached to the side seams & tied in back. It’s sure a lot more flattering than the tie belts I used to make for shifts that went all the way around & made me look like a tub cut in half, even though I’ve always been thin. So, you might experiment before adding the ties. Another possibility is to choose ready-made gold cinch belts, neither too wide nor too narrow, & to use the velvet ribbons, either black or my preference, dark brown, to make chokers with some sort of glamorous pin in front. It could be velvet going through white lace. The gold cinch belts might go with gold shoes, although black shoes would also be fine if you’re using
