What material is best for my French balcony, anodized aluminum or stainless steel?
We chose anodized aluminum for our French balconies due to its natural corrosion resistance. Upper scale boat masts are made of anodized aluminum for this reason and survive constant salt water air exposure. As many of our systems are installed on costal front properties, it was a natural choice. There are over 150 different grades of stainless steel, most of which will tarnish if not continually maintained. The highest grades, which resist tarnishing the most, would greatly escalate the cost of our system so are not used. In order to provide a beautiful shinny finish very similar to stainless steel, without any of the setbacks, we have developed a finish called Imperial chrome .
