What Marked The Importance Of The Battle In Virginia During The American Civil War?
It was the first major battle of the American Civil War, which was fought in the state of Virginia near a town called Manassas along with a small stream called Bull Rum. This battle took place in the year 1861 on the 21st of July. The Union army fought with 30000 soldiers being 8000 soldiers more than the Confederate army, which was fighting with 22000 soldiers under the overall excellent leadership of General Lee, who was also offered to lead the Union army by President Abraham Lincoln. However during this battle, the Confederate army was led by Thomas J. Jackson. With the upper hand in terms of strength and substance, the Union army seemed to be the victorious one out of the two in the initial stages of the war.
