The only mammals that depend on blood for their food supply are the three species of vampire bats and none of these bats bite off birds’ heads to obtain blood. While some mammals will bite the head off a bird, there seems to be little proof that they only feed on the blood, as a mammals requires a specialised gut in order to have such as specialised diet, as blood is not a complete food in itself.
