Wishard’s mission is extremely unique. It is the safety-net system open to every resident of Marion County, whether insured or not. To this end, Wishard provides more care to the indigent than all other hospital systems in the city combined. Approximately 65 percent of the inpatient uninsured care that happens in Marion County is provided by Wishard, and even more of the outpatient care.
