What makes the Vanilla sky explanation that is revealed in the movie too far fetched?”
From the opening scene you will be glued to the screen. Tom Cruise is nothing short of perfect in his portrayal of pretty boy David Aames. His supporting cast is magnificent also. Pretty soon you won’t be able to believe your eyes or your mind. It is tough to review the film without giving away even the smallest things, which is what the movie is ultimately about. The smallest things in life that matter to us. A walk through the snow, a father to son chat, or a freckle…Vanilla Sky is a great, psychological thriller. If you walk out on the movie and say it was stupid because it was too far fetched, you are missing the concept. How many new ideas are out there today in movies. Granted this was a remake of an older film, but it WAS remade and Crowe did a magnificent job. This movie should be seen and will be enjoyed by all. A fantastic movie that actually makes you think!
“Vanilla Sky” is a movie by Cameron Crowe. The movie is telling the story of the life of David Aames Jr (Tom Cruise). People who watched this movie had many whys and whats in their heads. The movie starts with David waking up and getting ready to go to work. when he starts driving in New York City streets and he finds himself alone he wakes up again. The movie goes on and the viewer would think:”Oh! now i understand what is happening”, then David wakes up again and that brings the confusion to the viewer’s head. When the movie is over the major question that the viewers will ask is: was the movie David’s dream or was it David’s real life? Eventhough the “tech support” told David at the end of the movie that everything that happened after David passed out outside the club was a dream, there is some evidence that the whole movie was dream. Now, let’s stop here for a second and talk about David’s life because it is the main thing of what happens in the movie. David is a rich, 33 years old
In Vanilla Sky, the explanation is revealed quite eloquently by one of the characters in a final scene which in and of itself is quite interesting. But, placed with the rest of the film, it doesn’t quite match. For much of the story, the focus is on a psychological type story line that is supposed to be weird and mind-bending. But then at the end, the film takes a complete 180 and changes direction so drastically that the ending is not only implausible, but all the more unbelievable. Sure, film drops those hints native to the mystery genre which, at the end, make more sense, but the explanation is just too far out there.
