What makes the Silicon Valley Conservation Council different from other conservation organizations?
We start at a different place. The Council is unique in that both environmental partners, such as The Nature Conservancy, and business partners, such as CISCO Systems, have come together to address complex issues, side-by-side, on the same Board of Directors. From this unique perspective we connect conservation and commerce in the early planning stages, where there is greater flexibility, and therefore greater opportunity for impact. We convene groups to coordinate conservation efforts among partners thereby offering a strategic context for Silicon Valley conservation investments – collectively identifying priority areas for action and integrating strategies to make the best use of limited funds and to increase support for expanded conservation funding. Our collaborative approach requires a focus on reasonable rather than tactical positions and, when partners differ, to seek solutions that meet the needs and interests of all.
