NextServer offers significant consolidation opportunities over legacy 1U, 2U, and 4U rackmount servers in that up to 16 Xeon or dual-core Opteron processors in up to 8 hot-swappable blades can fit in a 4U rack height. Each blade has an open standards PCI expansion slot, and the platform is virtually cable free for easy maintenance and higher MTBF. When compared to Blade Server solutions, NextServer combines a small rack-height (4U) with PCI slot expansion per blade for application specific solutions on a blade by blade basis, as well as Intel® Xeon or AMD Opteron™ high performance 64-bit processing.
