What makes the holistic approach holistic?
Holistic refers to the whole, the totality, of something. Holistic Mental Health Counseling treats the totality of the mental health issues by addressing the total person: mental, emotional, social, psychological, physical and spiritual. Physical symptoms, which are deemed to be very important, are addressed within the context of the whole problem, taking into account life history, general physical health, family and social history, community and family support, religious / spiritual beliefs and any other factors that present at time of treatment. Holistic approaches today include nutritional medicine, homeopathy, energy psychology, hands on energy methods like Healing Touch and massage as well as use of the intuition for insight and treatment.
