What makes the heart beat outside the body?
Maybe you asked how come a heart keeps beating after being removed from the body. If that’s the case then most people didn’t understand you, too bad for them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinoatrial_… The heart is independent of the brain because it has something called the Sinoatrial node, it is a group of cells that generates an electric current that transmits to the rest of the heart. Although all of the heart’s cells possess the ability to generate the electrical impulses (or action potentials) that trigger cardiac contraction, the sinoatrial node is what normally initiates it. How the heart works: http://www.nhlbi.nih.
The cells of the heart share an electrical pulse. When two heart cells are placed next to each other they will synchronize and beat together. This ability, i believe called the heart’s “sinus” (as in sine wave, not like in your nose) is not directly controlled, but is regulated by the brain. You asked a perfectly intelligent question. Everybody who posted a wise-crack answer or acted like it was dumb can go look at the questions about booty and junk that come through and get treated like they’re brilliant.
