What Makes Thai Longan Amazing?
Thai longans, although being the same species as those grown in other places, are somewhat different. There are many features that make Thai longans amazing. These are: Suitable Growing Conditions Thailand is blessed with large areas suitable for growing longan. The main longan growing area has been in the northern part of the country. However, there are at present many other areas in different parts of the country which attempt to grow longans and many areas are quite successful. For example, an area in Bangkok (Trok Chan, Yannawa District) is quite famous for growing a special clone of ‘Kalok’ longan. Likewish, certain areas in Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon Provinces are also good for the ‘Phet Sakon’ cultivar. It is surprising that certain areas in the Northease, which is well known for its drought in the dry season, are not only capable of growing longans, but some even produce high quality fruits profusely.
