What makes radioactive waste so hard to get rid of?
There is probably a single simple and basic regarding the difficulty of disposing of nuclear waste. It is that many of these materials remain dangerously radioactive for hundreds and even thousands of years that makes them difficult to dispose of. They must be stored safely for greatly extended periods, and this is costly and tedious.
