What makes Pennsylvanias Weed and Seed Initiative unique?
The state Weed and Seed Initiative is unique because of its success in delivering targeted resources. The mission for Initiative staff is to engender sufficient credibility with other commonwealth agencies to ensure that resource delivery will continue. Using the Advisory Committee as the conduit, Weed and Seed is a means through which pilot projects or innovative strategies can be supported. Because social and economic conditions are so acute in the 17 Weed and Seed communities, yet the planning process so comprehensive, each is poised to implement innovative programs. Using the Advisory Committee, commonwealth agencies agree to pilot programs through Weed and Seed sites in order to best coordinate existing resources already being sent to these communities.
