What makes Montauk special?
LARAINE CREEGAN: Montauk has a feel that is so different from all the other towns on Long Island. It’s like taking a step back in time, and it’s hard not to fall in love with its laid-back style. H: Do you have any favorite spots around town? LC: It’s hard to choose a favorite restaurant as they all have special items I love. I like Clam & Chowder House, Inlet Seafood Restaurant and Gosman’s, and Duryea’s for lobster and fresh fish. They all have magnificent water views and give a real Montauk feel. Harvest on Fort Pond is great for parties of six or more. The Montauket is good for fabulous sunsets, and so is East by Northeast. For a summer scene, try the Surf Lodge, or food and drinks by Fort Pond. Tex-Mex newcomer Runaways Restaurant is fun, too.
