What makes Marc Jacobs so intriguing?
The sub-theme of Ariel’s story is a superhero theme. He transformed himself from a schlumpy guy in glasses to a bronzed superhero. He’s a reality television show without the camera. His personality, designs and work are seamlessly intertwined, which makes him terrific. What’s so interesting about him is that his impact goes so far beyond the design world. He single-handedly revived the West Village into a Marc Jacobs theme park. How do your readers relate to Marc? Marc has been around for a long time, but what we do is place him in the context of the culture at large and knit him into that culture, so people in the Midwest who are fans of Sy Hersh are as interested in Marc Jacobs as someone on 22nd Street. Is Marc Jacobs married? I don’t think so!
