What makes Indiana high school wrestling great?
Just giving the high school kids in Indiana the opportunity to participate in the great sport of wrestling. Indiana wrestling is strong at every level from folkstyle/freestyle programs to middle school to high school programs. I have watched Indiana wrestling grow from my days when there were very little off season wrestling opportunities, advancing only 1 out of the big Sectionals, 1 out of the Regional to a 8 man State Finals that placed 4. Today we have expanded the tournament to four levels advancing 4 at every level placing 8. We still have work to do to improve the tournament, but there is no question more kids have more opportunities than in the past. We also have a Team Dual State Finals to determine a true Team State champion; again there is still room for improvement.
