Heartland Restoration Services was founded in 1994, prompted by the need for a full service native landscape restoration company to provide a cost-effective source for native plant materials with the ability to install and manage native ecosystems. Our team of knowledgeable professionals understand the evolving techniques of ecological restoration and applies these techniques to native landscapes throughout the Midwest. While many plant nurseries sell native seed or seed from plants native to North America, this type of seed may not be adapted to local climatic and soil conditions. We strive to provide quality native seed with local genotype or local genetic origin and increased genetic diversity by continually seeking new seed collection sites. This foundation seed material is either hand or machine collected from wetland, prairie, savanna, and woodland remnants scattered throughout northern Indiana.
