What Makes GigE Special For Machine Vision Applications?
In order to have high performance industrial camera on the market today, there is an interface standard that these cameras are all ruled by and that is the GigE Vision. This interface has four main elements that include a vision control protocol that shows how to configure and control specific devices. It also includes the mechanisms that are used for sending image date from the cameras to the computers. It also has the vision stream protocol that defines the data types of the camera along with what types of ways the images can be transferred using the interface. The GigE Vision also uses the device discovery mechanism that is used in order to get IP addresses. And last it uses a data sheet that helps the interface to access the screen image and the controls which is called the XML file. The features of this standard interface is the fact that it will give much faster data transfer rates, the lengths of the data transfers are also longer, and uses the basic standard Ethernet connection
