What Makes Fraxel Laser Therapy Unique?
Until recently there were only two laser options to treat aging and sun-damaged skin, ablative and non-ablative laser procedures. Ablative lasers provided very positive results, however, were associated with significant side effects and prolonged healing. Non-ablative lasers provided minimal healing time and carried fewer risks but required numerous treatments over several months resulting in limited improvements. Unlike ablative lasers that remove the top layer of skin, the Fraxel™ Laser is specifically designed to treat just a fraction of skin cells in the target area. This “fractional” treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once, using the body’s natural healing process to create new, healthy tissue to replace skin imperfections. What Is The Treatment Like? Treatments take around 20 to 25 minutes and are performed in the doctor’s office using only a topical anesthetic and a blue tint that highlights the contours of the skin.
