What makes Dragonfire different from other online publications?
We aim to produce interactive feature stories that either have very strong narratives or examine quirky, bizarre trends. What makes a good Dragonfire story? We’re looking for story pitches that personalize current events and that shed light on a particular newsworthy subject. We produce each issue of Dragonfire around a different theme. (For a list of upcoming themes, please see our Editorial Calendar). Dragonfire publishes a new issue every two weeks. We tell stories about how news events affect our culture and society. Think of us as a digital, interactive combination of The Atlantic Monthly and NPR’s This American Life. We occasionally run text-only features, but our goal is to make each story interactive in some way. We prefer to work with freelancers who have experience gathering information in multiple formats, but if you’re an experienced mainstream media journalist who’s new to the interactive game, we’re very happy to show you the ropes. Our first concern is solid, bulletproof
