What makes detainees any different from those in federal prison?
The normal prisoners in Federal Prisons are incarcerated for committing crimes on American soil and are accorded the rights normally associated with federal prisoners. The prisoners at Gitmo are enemy combatants or in other words mercenaries, but not really prisoners of war. The US government has given them this undeserved title to satisfy the far left members of the Democratic Party. In order to become a genuine POW, the prisoners must meet all four of the following. 1. Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, provided that they fulfill all of the following conditions: that of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates; 2. That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance (there are limited exceptions to this among countries who observe the 1977 Protocol I) 3. That of carrying arms openly 4.
