What Makes Compact Fluorescent Lamps Better?
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) are more efficient than regular incandescent light bulbs due to how they create light. 90% of the energy used to light the filament of an incandescent bulb escapes as heat. CFLs, on the other hand, use gas and invisible ultra-violet light rather than heat to produce the same amount of light while consuming much less energy. This means that using CFLs will reduce both your electric bill and your carbon footprint. CFLs are approximately four times more energy-efficient than incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. This increased efficiency minimizes the energy demand on generating stations powered by fossil fuels and reduces both greenhouse gas emissions and the amount of packaging and old light bulbs that end up in landfills.
