What makes Chiriqui special in comparison to the other provinces?
Chiriqui is more than a tropical destination; it also has highland and mountain destinations that are veritable paradises. Near the border with Costa Rica lies the spectacular mountains of the Chiriqui Highlands, including the cloud forests of “La Amistad National Park” and “Volcan Baru National Park”, home to Panama’s highest peak – a 10,000 feet high extinct volcano. If you take the hike to the top of the volcano, you can see both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Chiriquí offers world-class bird watching (including the resplendent Quetzal), coffee farm tours, an orchid farm showcasing 1,500 species of orchids, rafting and river kayaking, mountain trekking and hiking, horseback riding and not to forget the annual “Chiriquí Fair” in March. All this makes Chiriquí province a gem that has something appealing to offer for everybody.
