What makes CELTA better than other EFL programs?
Developed in England in the 1970s, the CELTA program is the introductory certification that is the most honoured, entry-level credential in the world for teaching English as a second or foreign language; in fact, it is the qualification that many language school employers ask for by name. Admission is selective; applicants must submit and pass a pre-course assignment and be interviewed by one of our CELTA tutors. Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) approves all centres, courses, and tutors worldwide. ILI / EC was the first approved Cambridge ESOL centre in North America, and has been offering Cambridge teacher training since 1985. EC’s CELTA program is recognized by TESL Canada, and graduates of our program can apply to be granted TESL Canada Professional Level One status. EC’s program is also accepted as university credit.
