What makes AP Chemistry at University High School different?
Instead of trying to fit watered down labs into the regular school day, we have been fortunate enough to make an arrangement with the Chemistry Department at Illinois State University to use their facilities on campus. Every Wednesday night from 6 to 9 PM we are allowed to meet in one of the teaching labs in ISU’s brand new Science Laboratory Building. We do most of the labs done by the ISU Chemistry 140 and 141 General Chemistry course plus any experiments that I would like to add (some of which we actually do back at U-High). Doing our experiments at ISU gives us a chance to do significant experiments using a state of the art facility with access to all of the instrumental and research facilities of a major university.
