What makes a really good dramatic monologue?
i think an excellent dramatic monologue should be graded or perceived in these ways 1. The orator should be very confident, dramatic (showing his/her emotions) and very “into the situation” 2. The speech should not always be too aggressive, it should hold some rational side. For example, if it is about banning cigarettes, you shouldn’t be yelling how bad cigarettes are for people for your entire speech. Although it is a dramatic monologue which requires some dramaticism, such as yelling or crying and extreme emotions and speeches, it should hold some rational side such as those facts and mollified side so that the audience will be pulled into the speech more when you elevate from the normal tone to the dramatic tone hope ..that makes sense anyways, just be sure that there is always that rational side, but don’t have too much of that otherwise, good lucK!
