What makes a mother qualify as overbearing? ?
Overbearing usually refers to a mother who is controlling and disrespectful of the child’s own wishes for his or her life. The mother may be described as “pushy,” a “stage mother” or one who “lives vicariously” through her child. She may be verbally or physically abusive. In other words, she’s not supportive or maternal and may see the child as an extension of herself or as a meal ticket to be used and may try to force other people into giving her child a job or whatever suits her needs or desires.
