What makes a green building?
Through the use of cutting-edge green technology, occupants enjoy a cut in water and energy bills, as well as an improvement in indoor environmental quality for healthy living. This also reduces the building’s impact on the environment. One key target: 80 per cent of all buildings in Singapore to be certified Green Mark by 2030. The Green Mark scheme rates buildings on their environmental impact. Initiatives: ~ $100 million incentive for private building owners to upgrade existing buildings to meet green standards. ~ Developers will be granted the right to extra floor area for new private buildings meeting green criteria. ~ New buildings in strategic growth areas to achieve high Green Mark standards. ~ All new public buildings will have to attain Platinum standard. ~ All existing public buildings will be upgraded to meet the Goldplus standard at a cost of $500 million by 2020.
