What makes a good horror story?
Like any good story, it has to have a good starter, middle and ending. Plus you need to feel that you are in the movie and being pulled along in it. I love the movie Signs by M.Night. Shyamalen, you feel as though you are in the house with the family. The music draws you in and so does the camera work. But the story has to have you believe that it could be true. Also the magic of what you cannot see lets your own imagination do the work. When I first start to read any book if it does not grab me within the first few pages, I give up. Start as you mean to go on, twists and turns taking the reader all over the place. Also the characters, when I read I usually become one of the characters and I cannot put the book down, until at last I savour the last few pages.
